Where to find it
- Empty canvas. The prompt box (“Describe the voice agent you want…”) and the suggestion chips just above it. A chip sends that description for you, the same as typing it and pressing Send.
- Left rail, AI Builder. The full conversation with the builder for the current agent.
- Bottom of the canvas. A composer for quick changes once an agent exists.
From description to canvas
1
Describe the agent
Two or three sentences are enough. Say who calls, what the agent should achieve, and anything it must never do. Press Send.
2
Before we build
The first time you press Send on a new agent, a short Before we build form asks which countries and languages matter and gives you a box for anything else. Fill it in, or click Skip all and the builder infers them from your description. The answers steer the voice and language it picks.
3
Answer up to five questions
If something important is unclear, the builder asks a multiple-choice question. The header reads Question N of up to 5. Pick an option, or type your own answer. If you have said enough, click Build it with what you have and it stops asking.
4
Wait for the build
The screen shows Thinking and then Building your flow. A build takes about a minute. You can click Cancel while it is thinking.
5
Review the canvas
The agent appears as connected cards. A short summary explains what was built. Check the readiness pill in the toolbar, then open Playground to talk to it.
Writing a good brief
Include:- Who calls and why. “Existing customers calling about an invoice.”
- What success looks like. “The caller leaves with a booked slot and a confirmation text.”
- Rules. “Never quote prices. Hand off anything medical.”
- Systems. “We use Cal.com for bookings and HubSpot for contacts.”
- Tone. “Warm, brief, no jargon.”
Example briefs
A receptionist for Northside Dental. Callers book, move or cancel appointments. Collect name and phone number, offer the next three free slots from our calendar, confirm by text. Anything about pain or symptoms goes to a person.
A billing line for a subscription software company. Identify the caller by email, explain the latest charge, offer a refund up to 50 dollars without approval, and open a ticket for anything larger. Polite but firm about the refund limit.
An after-hours line for a roadside assistance service. Get the caller’s location and vehicle, decide whether it is an emergency, and either dispatch by sending our operations team an email or schedule a callback for the morning. Calm, short sentences.
Changing an existing agent
Type what you want changed in the composer at the bottom of the canvas, or in the AI Builder panel. Examples:- “Make the greeting shorter and mention our opening hours.”
- “Add a Skill that collects an email address before booking.”
- “Send billing questions to a separate Skill and end the call after a ticket is opened.”
- “Switch the voice to a British English female voice.”
What the builder can and cannot do
- It builds from the same node catalog you see in Components. See the Node reference.
- It can add tools and after-the-call steps, but it cannot enter your keys. See Keys.
- It does not publish. You decide when to publish.
- It keeps the Persona and Skill structure: one Persona, one or more Skills, End on every path.
Tips
- If the agent does something odd in the Playground, tell the builder what happened in the call and what you wanted instead.
- Ask for one change at a time when you want to compare before and after.
- For a complete restart, open the Agents menu and click + New, then describe the agent again.
