An agent can be saved as an agent file, a .json file that holds the whole canvas: every node, every setting and every connection. Keys are never included.

Export

Open the Agents list from the toolbar, hover an agent’s row and click the download icon (Export as an agent file). The agent on the canvas can also be exported from the Agent menu (the chevron next to its name) with Export agent file. Your browser downloads a .json file named after the agent. Use it to:
  • Keep a backup before a big change.
  • Move an agent to another workspace.
  • Send the agent to support when something is wrong. See Troubleshooting.

Import

  1. On the empty canvas, click Import an agent file under the prompt box (start one with + New in the Agents list, or the logo in the toolbar). Or, with any agent open, choose Import an agent file from the Agent menu.
  2. Choose the file. The agent appears on the canvas as a new agent.
Importing never overwrites an existing agent. Rename the imported one from the toolbar if you keep both.

What the file looks like

Node types and handle names match the Node reference. A file that is not an agent file at all is rejected with That is not an agent file. A file without both nodes and connections is rejected with That file does not contain an agent. A file that uses node types no longer in the catalog is rejected with Could not read that agent file. A file with no Persona, more than one Persona, or no Skill is rejected with That agent file is incomplete and the reason. Nothing is saved in any of these cases.

What is not in the file

  • Provider keys.
  • Version history and conversation history.
  • Publish history and share links.
